Cuarteto Arriaga & Christian Zacharias

Cuarteto Arriaga & Christian ZachariasNot only Christian Zacharias appreciates the exceptional enthusiasm and quality of the aspiring Cuarteto Arriaga. This ensemble, which combines Latin temperament with the balanced sound aesthetics of the European musical tradition, recently captivated the audience at the festivals “Quincena Musical de San Sebastián” in Spain and “Movimentos” in Wolfsburg. Together with the pianist Christian Zacharias, the quartet dedicated itself to Schubert’s famous Trout Quintet in Spain.

Hatto Beyerle, the only violist of the Alban Berg Quartet and mentor of Cuarteto Arriaga, attested the 2008-founded ensemble an “interplay of seismographic sensitivity, which cannot be found elsewhere”. With esprit and maximum technical quality, the quartet is a welcome guest at renowned festivals and concert halls. The four musicians have performed, for instance, at the London Wigmore Hall, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus, the MDR Musiksommer and the festival “Musika-Música” in Bilbao. They have realised joint projects with outstanding artists, such as Marie-Elisabeth Hecker, José Luis Estellés, Sam Haywood, Mate Bekavac, Vladimir Mendelssohn and Jean François Heisser.
